- $8 – approximate postage for mailing questionnaires to 10 inmates
- $10 – approximate postage for answering 25 inmate or family inquiries
- $33 – one box of copy paper (10 reams)
- $50 - $60 – approximate cost of one prison visit (North Florida)
- $63 – one toner cartridge for a printer
- $150 – approximate cost of one prison visit (South Florida)
- $150 – cost to copy a 1000-page court transcript at Attorney General’s office
- $250 – cost for laboratory examination of one piece of evidence to detect possible sources of DNA for testing (multiple screenings are usually necessary)
- $1,000 – STR (short tandem repeat) DNA analysis on one item of biological evidence
- $1,500 – Mitochondrial DNA analysis on one strand of hair
- $3,000 – approximate cost to provide three months of transitional services for an exoneree (The state of Florida does not compensate exonerees, who are typically financially bankrupt at the time of their release.)
- $5,000 - 10,000 – approximate costs associated with all DNA testing that needs to be performed in a single case to prove factual innocence
