The Innocence Project of Florida is preparing for challenges to come as brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic. Our priority is the safety of our clients, applicants, and staff.

 

IPF will continue our efforts throughout this indefinite period and continue to actively respond to individuals and clients while adjusting to changing safety protocols. IPF staff have transitioned to remote work and suspended all travel.

 

Please take all necessary precautions recommended by the World Health Organization, CDC, and your State and Local officials. Take care of one another and be safe.

A Statement from Innocence Project of Florida on Coronavirus

AMANDA BRUMFIELD HOME AND FREE AFTER NEARLY A DECADE IN PRISON. 

 

After reaching an agreement with the Prosecutor's office, Brumfield was released on September 3, 2020 to join her husband and attorneys from the Innocence Project of Florida. Katherine Judson from the Center for Integrity in Forensic Sciences was co-counsel for Brumfield. 

STEPHANIE SPURGEON HOME AFTER 9 YEARS, AWAITS NEW TRIAL.

 

On July 10, 2020 after nearly a decade in prison, Stephanie Spurgeon was awarded a new trial by the Second District Court of Appeals. She was released into the arms of her daughter and grandchildren on August 3, 2020. IPF was co-counsel with Josh Tepfer of the Exoneration Project and Katherine Judson of the Center for Integrity in Forensic Sciences. Spurgeon is home at this time awaiting a new trial.
