Guests will have a unique opportunity to meet Gilbert King and Leo Schofield, hear directly from Leo about his extraordinary journey, and connect with members of the Innocence Project of Florida team. This intimate gathering offers supporters a meaningful opportunity to engage with those whose experiences and commitment to justice have helped bring Leo’s story to light.
A $1,000 sponsorship supports the Justice Circle Reception and the Innocence Project of Florida’s ongoing work to investigate wrongful convictions, uncover the truth, and pursue justice for those who have been unjustly imprisoned.

About the Speakers
Gilbert King is the author of Bone Valley: A True Story of Injustice and Redemption in the Heart of Florida. He is also the host and producer of Bone Valley, a multi-part narrative podcast about the wrongful conviction of Leo Schofield. King is also the author of Devil in the Grove, which was awarded the Pulitzer Prize for general nonfiction in 2013.
Leo Schofield spent more than three decades in prison for a murder he has long maintained he did not commit. His case, featured in Bone Valley, has become a powerful example of the flaws in the criminal justice system and the resilience of those fighting for exoneration.

Since 2003, the Innocence Project of Florida has worked to find and free innocent people incarcerated in Florida, support them as they rebuild their lives, and advocate for changes that help prevent future wrongful convictions. For more than two decades, we have investigated complex cases, pursued new evidence, and provided legal representation, all at no cost to the people we serve.
Our commitment continues after freedom. IPF provides transition support to help freed clients access housing, healthcare, identification, transportation, employment, counseling, and other resources as they rebuild their lives.
Proceeds from events like this help make that work possible, supporting innocent people still fighting to come home and those beginning their lives in freedom.
